After more than a decade navigating the VA disability system on my own, I chose Berry Law because I needed experienced, disciplined representation that truly understood how the VA works. From the beginning, it was clear that Berry Law was organized, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on doing things the right way — not rushing, not overpromising, but building a strong, evidence-based case. I worked primarily with Erik Root, along with support from Abbie Morris, and I cannot say enough good things about them. Erik was professional, responsive, and steady throughout the entire process. He explained what was happening, set realistic expectations, and made sure my claim was handled strategically. After years of feeling dismissed or overlooked, it was a relief to work with someone who treated my case — and my service — with respect. I can only write about my experience, and I deeply wish the high ratings here reflected the service I received. While I recently achieved a high VA disability rating, it was done with zero help, coordination, or effort from Berry Law. My increase came from my own prior filing. They completely dropped the ball on my most important and painful conditions—claims that were highly provable but ultimately denied due to a severe lack of communication, a missing strategy, and zero casework coordination on their end. The entire list of new claims that I asked them for help for was denied with most of them being easy secondary conditions mentioned in my records from civilian and VA doctors. To be clear, I am not mad about what the VA accepted or did not accept, as I know that system can be a conundrum. My issue is entirely with the process and Berry Law's total lack of effort. My list of claims were denied because nothing was added to the claim, none of the 10s of pages of records saw the light of day. I was even told at one point that they don't help with new claims, and I literally had to beg and plead just to get them to list other conditions that I knew were worth pursuing. I have never once been proactively contacted by them; just generally, all communication has had to come from me, and I’ve still spent hours dealing with the VA myself. I earnestly don't know what I am paying for. It felt like they were content to coast on my service record rather than working or fighting for my claim. The only bright spot I can say is in my brief communication with the attorney Angela St. Pierre, but that was only after months of no responsiveness and after I called in.

I had a great experience speaking with Jess Knudsen at Barry Law. She took the time to listen to my situation, gather all the information regarding my VA claim and make sure she understood the issues I am hoping to have reviewed by their legal team. Jess was professional, knowledgeable, patient and very easy to talk to. I never felt rushed during the meeting and she gave me fhe opportunity to explain the history of my claim and the concern I had. She also did a great job explaining the intake process and what to expect next. Regardless of the outcome of the firm's review of my case, I really appreciate dhe way Jess handled the initial consultation. First impressions matter, especially when you're discussing something as important as a VA disability claim, and she represented Barry Law extremely well.
