Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and the owner of Cypress Counsel (the “Site,” “we,” “us”). They apply when you visit or use the Site. Read them together with the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy, which are part of these Terms. Last updated: October 24, 2026.
1. Accepting these Terms
By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use it.
2. What the Site is
The Site is a consolidation of publicly available information about attorneys and law firms, with search tools, an AI-assisted routing tool, and a way to send messages to the Site’s operator. It is not a law firm, a lawyer referral service, or an attorney-client matching service. It does not recommend or endorse any attorney. It does not give legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please read the Disclaimer for the full explanation. Your decision to contact or hire any attorney is yours alone.
3. Using the Site
You may use the Site for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes, such as looking for an attorney or checking an attorney’s public details. You agree to follow these Terms and all applicable laws.
4. What you may not do
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, harvest, crawl, or download listings in bulk, or use robots, scripts, or other automated means to collect data from the Site, except for ordinary search engine indexing allowed by our robots file
- use the Site or its data to send unsolicited advertising, bulk email, text messages, or calls to listed attorneys, firms, or other people, or to build a mailing, marketing, or lead list
- resell, republish, or commercially redistribute the Site’s compilation of listings, rankings, or other content without our written permission
- harass, threaten, or stalk any attorney, firm, or other person, or use the Site to do so
- pretend to be someone else, or claim to represent an attorney or firm when you do not
- submit false, misleading, or unlawful information through the chat box or the listing request form
- send spam, malicious code, or anything that could harm the Site, its users, or its providers
- try to bypass rate limits, access areas of the Site you are not allowed in, or interfere with how the Site works
- use the Site in a way that violates any law or the rights of others
We may block access, remove content, or limit use of the Site if we believe these rules are being broken.
5. Listings and information
Listings are compiled from public sources and may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong. The Site makes no promise about their accuracy or currency, and they are not a substitute for the official sources. You should confirm an attorney’s license and disciplinary status with the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Louisiana State Bar Association before you rely on a listing. See Sections 1, 4, and 5 of the Disclaimer.
6. Ratings, reviews, and rankings
The Site may show ratings, reviews, or lists ordered by third-party data, such as Google ratings. These come from other sources, are shown as provided, and are not the Site’s opinion. The Site does not create, verify, or endorse them. Lists may also be ordered alphabetically, by distance, or at random. None of this is a ranking by the Site of any attorney’s quality. See Section 2 of the Disclaimer.
7. The AI assistant
The assistant is an automated tool. It is not a lawyer, it can be wrong, and you should not rely on it for any legal decision. Do not enter confidential or sensitive information. See Section 7 of the Disclaimer and Section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
8. Messages and requests you send us
When you send a message through the chat box or a request through the claim or correct a listing form, you agree that:
- what you send is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you have the right to send it
- if you ask to claim or change a listing, you are that attorney, or you are authorized to act for that attorney or firm
- we may use what you send to answer you, to review and act on your request, and to run and protect the Site, as the Privacy Policy describes
- we may ask for proof that you are who you say you are, and we may refuse, delay, or limit any request, for example if we cannot confirm it against official sources
- sending a message or request does not create an attorney-client relationship, and the Site is not obliged to reply within any set time
Do not include confidential information. The Site is not a safe place to send details of a legal matter.
9. Advertisements
The Site may show advertisements and sponsored content. Advertisers are solely responsible for their content and for following the laws and professional rules that apply to them. The Site is not a party to any dealing between you and an advertiser. See Section 6 of the Disclaimer.
10. Ownership and permitted use of our content
The Site’s design, layout, text we write, software, logo, and name (“Cypress Counsel”) belong to the Site’s owner or its licensors and are protected by law. We also claim the right in our selection, arrangement, and organization of the listings. We do not claim ownership of the public records the listings are drawn from, or of other people’s names, trademarks, ratings, or reviews. You may view the Site and share links to it. You may not copy, adapt, or reuse our content except as these Terms or the law allow.
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright or other rights, write to inquiries@cypresscounsel.com with the page address, what you believe is infringed, and how we can reach you.
11. Third-party links and services
The Site links to websites and uses services run by others, such as Google. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is under their terms and policies.
12. No warranties; limit of liability
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Site, its owners, operators, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of money, profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or inability to use it. See Section 10 of the Disclaimer. Some places do not allow certain limits, and where that is so, our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
13. Your responsibility (indemnity)
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and hold harmless the Site and its owners, operators, and contractors from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or what you submit through it.
14. Suspension and ending access
We may suspend or end your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have broken these Terms or the law, or if we need to protect the Site or others. We may also change, pause, or stop any part of the Site at any time.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted, and the date above will change. Your continued use of the Site means you accept the current Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising from these Terms or the Site belong in the courts of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, and you agree to those courts’ jurisdiction.
17. General terms
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms right away, we have not given up the right to do so later.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Disclaimer, and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and the Site about its use. If they conflict, the Disclaimer controls on matters of endorsement, advice, and reliance.
- No transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the Site is sold.
18. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to inquiries@cypresscounsel.com or through the contact page. To correct or remove a listing, use the claim or correct a listing form.
