As a man living in another state, with a teenage daughter in Louisiana, and with a custody case that had already been decided years earlier, the prospects of gaining custody of my daughter seemed bleak. I knew I needed a champion, and I believed in my heart that Ms. Misty Smith was that person. Ms. Smith initially declined to take my case, explaining, quite candidly, that she believed it would be unsuccessful and that she did not want me to waste my money on a fool’s errand. After several years navigating the Louisiana family court system, I can say that this level of blunt honesty is in extremely short supply. About a week after our initial meeting, an adverse event occurred involving my child, and I reached out to Ms. Smith again. After hearing what had happened, she immediately said that she had to take action on behalf of the child. From that point forward, Ms. Smith waded into the fray, and positive results began to come quickly. Despite being severely behind the curve procedurally, Ms. Smith was able to secure custody of my daughter, including her relocation out of state with me. Although the case continued for another year, she racked up win after win in the face of staunch opposition and a reluctant district court. At the conclusion of the case, I realized that Ms. Smith had achieved nearly 100% of what I hoped for when I initially engaged her services. She truly embodies what a family law attorney should strive to be, always putting the child’s needs first, while still flawlessly advocating for her client. Ms. Smith is exceptionally knowledgeable in all aspects of family law and has the rare ability to explain complex, technical legal concepts in a way the average person can easily understand. She is supported by two outstanding legal assistants, Cindi and Alissa, who went above and beyond throughout my case. I genuinely felt that everyone at Ms. Smith’s firm was deeply invested in me, my child, and achieving a positive outcome. My hope is that this review reaches another father who may be feeling hopeless or overwhelmed. If that’s you, do your child, and yourself, a favor and call Ms. Smith’s office. I can’t guarantee success, but I can guarantee that Ms. Smith and her team will give it everything they have.

Misty was amazing!! I called her late in the evening stressed out about a court date that was the very next morning. She pulled my information and assured me that she would be in court with me. She showed up and helped me with my case. I dont know what i would have done without her.

I was well represented by Attorney Liz Spurgeon in my property claim case against a major national insurance company. She was very professional and firm in all negotiations. I was very pleased with the settlement results that I could not have accomplished alone!

Misty service was great! She helped me with my divorce process while I was deployed. Made sure I was informed every step of the way, always answered my texts/emails of any question I had. The process was so smooth and she made it a lot simpler than I thought it would be. I recommended her to a friend who is also using Misty’s services right now and my friend is also having a great experience with Misty. Would recommend Misty to anyone seeking legal support!

I used Misty and her team for legal services and I am totally satisfied with the outcome. When I first got served papers, I knew that if I could just get the evidence in front of the right person, I'd be alright. Even with small town politics and what I was up against, she had a sense of confidence that gave me a lot of peace. The people on her team were always supportive and available for a quick question. It all paid off in the end, and I know I made the right decision on representation.
