U.S. Navy Fleet Week is happening here, and its a must attend event. The Port of Houston Authority is a well-managed and a very secure hub so its so safe and makes for a nice place to tour the Navy ships that are docked there.

I didn’t expect a free boat ride to change how I see Houston. But it did. I took the M/V Sam Houston Boat Tour recently — 90 minutes, completely free, on one of the busiest ports in the world. Right here in Houston. And wow. Watching these massive cargo ships just… glide past you. Learning how the Turning Basin terminal runs day to day. It hits different when you’re actually out there on the water. You can’t really Google this feeling. This port isn’t just a port. It’s literally where the world’s economy moves — oil, gas, global trade — and Houston is right in the middle of all of it. Oh, and the jobs? Over 1.54 million in Texas alone. Energy, logistics, engineering, construction, environmental science, trade… the list goes on. The opportunity here is real. If you’re job hunting, in school, or just trying to understand the energy world better — go take this tour. Seriously. It’s free, it’s eye-opening, and it’ll change how you think about this city.

If the gates close at 8pm, why was I denied entry at 7:55pm? I was on Clinton and as I pulled up, the gate was being closed on my face, I was confused thinking my time was wrong, but the security guard reassured me they close at 8pm. I was confused and I looked at my watch, I said to her “It is 7:55pm? I need to go to dock 8.” Mind you, dock 8 is literally a couple feet away from the gate. I was denied entry and was told to go to the main gate. It was such an inconvenience having to drive miles only to go back to the same spot. Please change hours of operations if y’all wanna leave at 7:55pm.

We have loaded and delivered many projects to and from this port with great success. As long as you are prepared to enter the port it is a smooth process with great people to work with.

Very rude people at CPA. they make you feel like we’re begging for their mercy. So unorganized. They ask for so many things that was supposed to ask for before we get here. Super rude.
