Do not waste your money on this law firm. The most unprofessional And unethical standards. I tried to withdraw from the case, early on due to no response from anyone at their office after I paid my initial retainer and I wish I would have. They made a slew of excuses and talked me into staying, and I was in a very stressed out and vulnerable place when I filed for custody. To take advantage of single moms at their lowest moments when they are trying to protect their children is a very low blow from someone you’re paying to do their job. I had several issues with this law firm, mostly miscommunications on their end or non-responding. Jaimee is the WORST! I can’t believe she still has a job. Anyone else who behaved the way she does would not have a job which shows a lack of quality control at this law firm. I’ve been asking to close my case and issue a refund since September see the photo attached. I just got my check today, May 3, 3026, I was also billed for several things within this time despite me asking to close the case. I was charged in October 2025 from multiple things that I was never even made aware of After already asking to be sent my refund since the case was closed . My final invoice that was sent to me was supposed to be $1585.70 And they issued a check for $1010.60 My case has been closed since January 2025. It is May 2026 and I was charged $295 for them to withdraw off the case a year later after asking Several times to send my refund since the case was closed. If you wanna be twice as stressed as your ex-husband/partner makes you then choose this law firm.

I feel absolutely sickened and taken advantage of. Since January, I’ve been in an ongoing legal battle that still hasn’t been resolved. I reached out to Sheila O’Connor after seeing numerous recommendations for her supposed expertise in child custody matters. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. I paid a $5,000 retainer after being promised strong representation for me and my daughter. Instead, I received almost no communication or meaningful progress. I was advised to file an ex parte motion due to my daughter’s urgent situation, but I wasn’t contacted again until the day before court, when I was rushed to prepare my own paperwork and defend my daughter myself. Ms. O’Connor was frequently unavailable, and her assistant Betsy eventually took over my file—only to tell me that I “never had a case” and dismiss my concerns entirely. Despite this, I was repeatedly billed for work that appeared to have never been done. My retainer was quickly depleted, and I began receiving additional bills for unexplained charges. When I tried to schedule meetings or get updates, my calls went unanswered. The case was eventually moved back to St Bernard, forcing me to hire a new attorney to continue fighting for my daughter. Please, for the sake of your family and your finances, do not hire this firm. My experience felt like a complete waste of money and time, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through the same ordeal.

Very pleased with Sheila and her team & I highly recommend her to anyone who needs an attorney for purposes of custody. Especially a DAD sorting custody. My husband retained her office to settle custody of his children from a prior marriage. Our case turned out almost exactly as Sheila said it would in our initial meeting - through mediation & not in court. A word of advice - BE PATIENT. We were never ignored or neglected and never felt unprepared or in the dark. That said, you won't hear from her office every day or even every week, but when your time comes, you will receive their FULL attention.

A veteran in this field. Knows how to win and has an incredibly kind heart. She’s a God fearing independent woman who has an amazing staff behind her.

Sheila was an AMAZING attorney. She is a powerhouse and knows the law. She worked relentlessly on our very HIGH CONFLICT custody battle. She was aggressive and was able to get everything my husband asked for. She is unorthodox - If you are timid or "faint of heart", she may not be for you, BUT if you want someone who is willing to go outside the box and tell it like it is- Sheila is the best. She is expensive, but you pay for what you get. It did take a VERY long time, but it was not Sheila's fault- I felt it was more of a Saint Tammany Parish issue. Very highly recommended for father's rights. She will dive into your life like she is living it.
